Biodiversity Conservation at Home of Ayahuasca ecosystemWelcome to the Home of Ayahuasca biodiversity ecosystem
At Home of Ayahuasca, we are not only committed to providing profound healing experiences through the ayahuasca retreats, but also to actively protecting and preserving the Amazon rainforest and its biodiversity. Our conservation efforts are at the core of our mission, and we are proud to share our progress with you.
Reforestation and Medicinal Plant ConservationSince the founding of our center, we have been actively involved in reforestation efforts, planting over 20,000 medicinal plants and valuable trees in the Amazon jungle.
After every preparation of the healing herbal drink ayahuasca, we prioritize planting new seedlings of medicinal plants in the jungle. For every ayahuasca vine we use, we plant at least 60 new seedlings of ayahuasca or other medicinal plants, contributing to the restoration and maintenance of jungle biodiversity. In 2022, we planted approximately 600 ayahuasca vines and 100 chacruna seedlings in the wild, contributing to the restoration and reforestation of the natural habitat of these important plants used in traditional Amazonian medicine. This effort aims to promote their long-term sustainability and preserve their populations in their natural environment.
Private Nature ReserveWe have designed a private nature reserve spanning 800 hectares to preserve the virgin Amazonian jungle, protecting its biodiversity, ecosystems, and cultural heritage. This reserve serves as a sanctuary for the unique flora and fauna of the Amazon rainforest. By the end of 2022, 120 hectares of the virgin Amazonian jungle, which was under the threat of cutting down, are in our private property.
In 2023, our main goal is to obtain the official status of a private nature reserve for our property, which will require close cooperation with local authorities and experts to comply with necessary requirements and regulations. We will also focus on developing a scalable business model for sustainable self-financing and expansion of the reserve, ensuring its long-term viability as a protected area for biodiversity conservation.
Conservation of Endangered Animal Species: Turtle Recovery ProgramWe have built a natural pond with the aim of breeding 10,000 fish and 3,000 turtles. This project contributes to the conservation and recovery of endangered aquatic turtles, as well as the preservation of fish species in our region. Our efforts to breed endangered turtles and create protected habitats for them are part of our commitment to conserving and protecting vulnerable wildlife populations.
We are committed to the recovery of aquatic turtle populations in our region, and our goal for 2023 is to increase the number of turtles in our natural nursery to 1000. This will include establishing a protected area for laying eggs and hatching turtles, working with conservation organizations to provide partial project financing, implementation of conservation measures such as habitat restoration and protection against poaching. We will also work with local stakeholders to raise awareness about the importance of turtle conservation and promote responsible ecotourism practices.
Protecting and restoring biodiversity will remain a core focus in 2023, and we will continue our efforts to conserve and restore the habitat of endangered species, promote the careful use and restoration of local medicinal plant populations, and collaborate with local experts and organizations to implement effective biodiversity conservation strategies.
